Whatsoever Things Are Lovely

Philippians 4:6-9 -  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Dear Friends – Staying in peace in times of turmoil and stress, how hard it is. Settling it in your heart, what you’ve believed and received, is a must in today’s world, and certainly the foundation of a peace-filled existence. Scripture exhorts us to be anxious for nothing. But often we display just the opposite characteristics. I believe that the mind with its constant barrage of questions, concerns, doubts and fears, trips us up quicker than any other storms we may face in life. Staying in peace is both physically and mentally rewarding in that when fear and doubts come we know what we have believed and with our mouth we confess it. It sounds like a simple enough task, a rather menial endeavor, but think again. Staying in peace takes extreme discipline for even the most committed of followers. When the storms are raging in life it’s easy to start to focus on the waves. It’s easy to take our eyes off the Savior and begin to fret. And as the boisterous waves of life’s calamities and hard places continue to pick up strength and speed, it becomes even harder to stand.

But stand we must. Stay in peace at all costs. Run to God at these times and get alone with Him. He knows your heart before you call. He is aware of your needs before the prayer is spoken. But in your time alone with Him pour out your requests and supplications, make them known to Him heart to heart, then thank Him that He’s heard and will answer. How precious that no matter our problems, no matter what troubles us and keeps us on the run, we have a Savior that is ever at our side, looking for fellowship with us, to comfort us and settle us, to establish us in His way.

Yes staying in peace is a precious gift. That is why scripture says it “passeth all understanding”. For we ask ourselves how can we stay in peace in the torrential onslaught of mental and emotional turmoil? How can we stay in peace in the face of physical distress? Can we stay in peace in the midst of financial difficulties, for ourselves, for others? What about wars and rumors of wars? It is possible to truly trust God so much that these things don’t distress us and cause us to fall? Can we trust Him to such a degree that we spend our days looking for ways to comfort and strengthen others rather than worrying unceasingly about our own difficulties. This is the peace which passes understanding. This is the peace we experience through Christ Jesus, knowing He will keep our hearts and minds because they are committed to Him.

It seems impossible at times to stand believing, committed, trusting in Him at all costs, but to experience that peace that passes understanding, I promise you the end result will leave you strengthened, refreshed, encouraged, with a new perspective on your circumstances and the possible outcomes. What good is worrying about so much in life when in reality we can usually change very little? And so much time spent worrying about things that may never even happen can steal the moments we could be living, laughing, helping others, all of which have much more benefit than pacing the floor and wringing our hands in dismay when we have allowed problems or people to overwhelm us and send us reeling out of control.

No, we must not allow ourselves to lose another moment of this precious gift of life so lovingly bestowed on us by our Savior. It may not make sense to some lost in pain and despair. Some may ask how can just staying in peace change the situation or the outcome of such? First of all, it passes understanding, meaning we as mere humans can’t really understand how God can bring peace in troubled times just because we are trusting Him. But this loving Savior does bring peace when we choose to walk in it and above all stay in it. I actually put this to the test in my personal life. First I gave God a week, just baby-steps. In prayer I decided to trust Him with issues in my life that seemed too big to ever be resolved, with people that were difficult, and with situations I had no answers to and felt it had become my lot in life to just suffer through every day rather than walk in victory. One week. That’s how it all started and I can say it was the best decision of my life.

Circumstances may not have changed that much but I changed. My perspective on life changed. The realization of what was important and what was not changed. Trying to justify myself and my feelings changed. For ultimately God forgives us our frailties and failures and expects us in turn to forgive others. Let the sin debt be paid, friends, yours and others with whom you have to do. And those “others”, well they changed too because they saw the glorious work God had done in me. I started with baby-steps and am now experiencing leaps and bounds on my spiritual journey.  And all because I made the quality decision to trust God and stay in peace.

At the end of the first week, I found myself at a crossroads. Would I pick up the old life of worry, anger, fearfulness, or would I go on for another week of staying in peace? It wasn’t a hard decision. I was definitely feeling “lighter”. The old baggage had been tossed aside so I decided another week would be good. At the end of the second week, well I was no longer at a crossroads asking what I should do. No, I knew I was on a bountiful path that could only lead me to beautiful new beginnings. Since this “staying in peace” journey began I have 3 books on amazon.kindle and 3 books on amazon in print. Amazing that what I had been trying to do in my own strength for so many years miraculously turned around because of that baby-step week. I say none of these things would have come my way had I continued in struggling, worrying, unforgiveness, and all that entails. I trusted God and He met me at every need. I trusted God and He gave me a new life, a new purpose, and truly joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Truly, it has passed all understanding. I would not trade the old life with it’s worries, concerns, failures, uncertainties and drama, yes, always drama, for the peace I have found in Christ alone. I’ve been blessed, truly blessed, above and beyond anything I expected at the outset of my little baby-steps. My heart is at rest, my mind is at rest. It was an even more surprising  life-changing event because I’ve always been somewhat of a worrier. Now when thoughts trouble me, when I feel that urge to pick up the old life and take matters into my own hands, I commit it to Him. I commit it to Him knowing He is taking care of all things much better than I ever could. I commit it to Him knowing He is for me and not against me, and that all things are working together for my good. I commit it to Him, take my hands off, walk away in peace, that peace that passes understanding, and focus on the good that I can do, those that I may help in some way, or just relaxing and living the life God has called me to live. It’s gloriously liberating and freeing.

I pray these words of inspiration have encouraged you to stay in peace today, my friends, and begin to live the abundant life Jesus died to give us.

In His Love,

Lynda Signature

Inspiration Words Of Encouragement | Even The Angels Must Wait

1

Wait On The Lord
Daniel 10:12-13 – Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer…but for 21 days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way.

EVEN THE ANGELS ARE HINDERED AND MUST WAIT AT TIMES.

Dear Friends – This scripture is such a beautiful reminder that when God seems to be delayed in coming to us in our time of need, or when we have done all we know to do and still no response, the seeming silence in the heavens could be due to the angels being hindered, held up in some way in bringing God’s answer to our hearts. We humble ourselves and pray for wisdom and understanding, but it’s easy to think we might have come to God in our time of great need and somehow asked amiss anyway. It’s easy to blame ourselves for a lack of patience perhaps, or maybe just a selfish request, when we gaze into the heavens and they seem cold and dark, enveloped in a strange silence our hearts can not even receive at first. At this point, one can bolt and run, or one can choose to stay with God knowing they’re in the best of hands, the safest place they could ever be, and realize that it is a journey to give God all the glory and share the testimony we receive in the end with a lost and hurting world.

Beloved, I have devoted myself to trusting God through it all. I have learned that delay is not always denial, and should it be denial it is always wonderfully good for us. It seems awkward now to say that a firm “no” from my God ends with praises on my lips thanking Him and giving Him the glory for His protection over me, His involvement in every aspect of my life. For the denials have taught me the difference between needs and wants. The denials have taught me that even the most sincere prayers can be selfish or looking for a quick fix out of a painful situation while looking at a failure head on. Ultimately in the silence, and through a dogged determination to seek God and His way no matter how much it hurt, I grew to love Him and depend on Him even more. I have learned to be patient in the delays knowing His way will always serve me best. And His way will also serve others best. For our dear Savior looks at our whole picture, those whose lives we have major influence over, and those whose lives we may not have even touched yet but soon will. He considers things I can’t even fathom, to the good will of all.

Yes, I have chosen to trust when it would be easier to skip the whole thing, just up and run the other way to escape the pressure and pain. But, I can’t find words to tell you how sweet it is to stay in the refiner’s fire until all the old dross, all the garbage and excess baggage we carry around with us, is burned away. We come out without even the smell of smoke, and we come out full of zest for life, full of passion to serve Him, and a love and compassion for the hurts and needs of others we might have otherwise never realized.

So fret not if the heavens seem silent to you at times. Don’t fall into worry and doubt if you’re waiting on God and He hasn’t showed up yet. Let the above scripture be an encouragement to you that your angels could be held up in the heavens as they are bringing God’s answer to you. And remember that God never leaves us or forsakes us. He is always only a prayer away. He hears the cries of our hearts but if we want to be a tree of life planted by those living waters we must submit our will and our way to His will and His way. Nothing else will keep us planted in Jesus but a blind faith and total trust in good times or bad.

This total commitment then becomes your resting place in the Lord. Total commitment takes the pressure off. We don’t have to be so concerned about every decision we make, every stumbling block or hurdle we may otherwise struggle with. Give your life to Christ this day and begin a rest for your souls. The joy of the Lord will be your strength and His joy is full and lasting. His Word says, “whosoever will, may come”. Such great love, full of mercy and grace, is  only found in Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. May He bless you with His presence this day as you begin to seek Him with all of your heart. And may I tell you that if you have been praying earnestly about a matter, if you have been struggling under a load of care seeking God’s answer, the answers will come, and when they do your circumstances will catch up with your faith. The dark night of the soul you’ve been going through was just a season and don’t let anyone talk you out of your blessing. God will be faithful to you.

In His Love,

Words Of Inspiration | How Great Is Our God?

Thinking Outside The Box

Psalms 77:13-14 – Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God. 14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou has declared thy strength among the people.

Dear Friends – With God’s help today,  I invite you to think outside the box, just for a moment, and ponder the thought that your emotional pain and frustration may actually be your friend.  The overwhelming pain you have been relentlessly suffering due to circumstances seemingly beyond your control probably have deep and loving messages attached. God often uses the trials and tribulations we endure in our spiritual journey to draw us closer to Him. He wants us to trust Him more, love Him more intimately, and fellowship with Him without reservation. Scripture says in 1 Peter 5:6-7 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care  upon him; for he careth for you.  So often we are so burdened and so weary, so distracted by the cares of this world, but that is exactly where God is waiting to meet us. He’s right there with you in the fire awaiting your cry for help. He’s carrying you through the flood, holding your head up when you no longer can. And His words to you are to cast it all on Him. He is able to handle it when we don’t know the way anymore and have not the strength to bear it any longer.

I read this short paragraph by Oswald Chambers and was struck by the absolute truthfulness of the statement, as if God sent a personal word. He says “It is not so true that “prayer changes things” as that prayer changes me and I change things. God has so constituted things that prayer on the basis of Redemption alters the way in which a man looks at things. Prayer is not a question of altering things externally, but of working wonders in a man’s disposition”.- Oswald Chambers. And there it is – truth in its most basic form. For our God does not always come when we call and change our circumstances. In His most loving way and with great tenderness and compassion on us, there are times when He is not out to change things for us but to change the heart and mind in us. When our hearts are broken and calling out to Him in desperation and what we receive seems to be silence, we must think again.  Scripture says in 1 Peter 4:19 – Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. Let this stir your soul, dear ones, and open your heart to His wisdom, His will and His way. For what He chooses for us is ultimately, infinitely better, exceedingly more powerful, and certainly more lasting and beneficial than things we would choose for ourselves.

Think of recurring issues in life that continue to bring us pain and distract us from all the things we could be enjoying. Would it not be more beneficial to allow God to change how we perceive life, situations, and people? This change of heart, or change of mind, or change in perception doesn’t leave us open to the next problem to arise with our weaknesses still intact and thriving. No this change is inside of us, orchestrated by God, and completed by God. The divine wisdom has been received and with joy and a renewed passion we move on, to bigger conquests, greater victories. Yes, precious ones, a change in our disposition will go a lot farther than a change in our external circumstances.

In a fast-food society, we want instant relief or we want it our way. But when God is involved it becomes evident our way leaves us needing more and more fixes, more and more help, and because of His involvement He usually allows us to come to that realization in His time frame and not ours. What great love for man that He would have so much patience with us when we usually have so little for Him.  Scripture says in Isaiah 55:9&11 – For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Think on that for a moment beloved. God doesn’t think like we do, He doesn’t act like we do, but He sends His word and accomplishes what He will, and what He wills will prosper in the situation and brokenness to which He sends it. Established in righteousness? With God it’s possible.

So think outside the box and get a glimpse today of just how big God really is, how great and precious are His promises. Let the painful circumstances in your life lead you to God who is ready to take you on, a special project of sorts, to rebuild, repair and ultimately restore you to all He created you to be. Make Jesus the Lord of your life today. Read His word and receive every bit of its inspiration and encouragement into your life and your circumstances. Set about to stay the course with God and live your life on His time schedule and not  your own. If you want to learn and grow in the things of God His door is always open, His arms are there to welcome you, and the Holy Spirit will come alongside to comfort you. It’s a win-win deal but it can’t be rushed or dictated – only lived out to the ultimate until we all come into the fullness of Christ.

In His Love,

Lynda Signature

Words Of Inspiration | Feelings – Fact Or Fiction?

Spiritual Discernment

Philippians 4:7-8 - And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Dear Friends – It is my prayer that this article will somehow bring enlightenment on your spiritual journey and reacquaint you with the fact that our feelings can at times be deceiving. Our feelings are often the product of our thoughts, and without discipline our thoughts can run amok, leading our feelings down the same path. Feelings and emotions must be controlled if we are to grow in our relationship with the Lord. False emotions, like fear, can wreak havoc on our love walk, and be prohibitive in our prayer life. If you find yourself drowning in a sea of emotional turmoil and negative feelings, it’s time for a mental checkup, what’s real and what’s not? What must I attend to and what am I wallowing in?

In the above passage of scripture, we are given a list of things to think on. Beloved, we at times do have thoughts that are destructive to our self image, and we at times do have thoughts that are destructive to our relationships. But a well disciplined mind, a mind that is not allowed to race out of control and be carried away by every emotion or feeling, can be achieved. Look at the above list and ask yourself why are we instructed on what we should think about? I believe God knows how debilitating our thought life can be, how crippling our emotions can become if not kept in check. If we allow ourselves to have thoughts of self degradation or self pity we begin to isolate ourselves and perhaps even to the degree of accusing others of just not understanding rather than admit our thought life and feelings might in fact be in error. In the cloudiness of too much negative thinking, we too fall prey to a lack of understanding and lose our good judgment. Too much time spent in pondering our inner lives, the whys and wherefores, is unproductive and can lead us into depression, or deepening depression should it already be present to some degree. That is why God instructs us to think on things that have virtue and value in our lives. If we constantly tell ourselves we’re worthless and useless, before long we will start to believe it, and once we believe it, we will begin to act on it. But if we are thinking on things that are beautiful and of good report, even if we must use discipline to do so, we will by the same token feel more at peace with ourselves and with the world around us. And as you begin to take  captive every negative thought, before long this discipline will have a great reward. You will have a renewed strength and joy, a peaceful countenance to which you may not be accustomed and that in itself might require adjustment and a “settling down” if you will. You will no longer be tossed around emotionally by every careless word spoken by others. The things that used to so easily offend you won’t seem so important anymore. And above all, you’ll get a free pass off the emotional roller coaster that is so destructive to our personal lives.

Scripture says in Hebrews 12:12-16Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 Make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. If you are in sorrow and weakness today,  overwhelmed by negative thoughts and feelings, take heart my friends. Through Jesus, you can turn and let it be healed, for crippling emotions will lead you off course. Follow peace in your life for where the Spirit of the Lord is there is peace. Root out any bitterness in your soul. Let the grace of God soothe the dis-ease in your life and save you from the hand of the enemy that is too strong for you. If you allow yourself to be overcome and taken down by negative feelings and emotions, others will naturally go down with you. Be the bridge of hope for your friends and family today, a bridge that leads to exceeding great joy. Believe God’s best for your life and you’ll be the best for others.

There are harsh facts in life that of course cannot be denied or ignored. There are things in life, people and situations, that need our attention, and some well-thought-out plans.  Scripture says in Proverbs 16:3&9- Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. 9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. God has given us freedom of choice, freedom of will, but it is up to us with His help to choose our way wisely. We are a living testimony to those around us as to how we handle stress and turmoil, what we do with the exceeding good things that come our way (will we use them for selfish purposes, squander them, or use them for God’s glory), and whether our joy is real or just a deceptive portrayal to hide the out-of-control emotions and feelings we may be dealing with on the inside.

May these words of inspiration encourage you this moment, these words of encouragement open your eyes to the abundant life that awaits you through faith in Christ Jesus. Yes, you or a family member may be seriously ill, but choose to believe the good report about this illness. Stand on God’s word that says  “by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). If you are  troubled and embittered, anxious or fearful, believe His word that says ”Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God… ” (Isaiah 41:10). For all that we face in life (scripture says “there is nothing new under the sun”) is covered by God’s marvelous grace and in this grace there is nothing lacking, nothing missing. Because of God’s grace no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Test the waters of your emotions and feelings, dear ones. Ask God to show you what’s real and what needs to be discarded. Ask Him for an abundant supply of spiritual discernment that you might be able to shun the offenses and learn to walk in love. Your feelings should not be controlling you. Rise up and take control of them in truth.

In His Love,

Lynda Signature

Words Of Inspiration | Closeness With God

Closing The Gap

2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness: but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Dear Friends – Do you desire a closer walk with God? Do you desire a more intimate relationship with Jesus? May these words of inspiration lift your spirits today, and these words of encouragement comfort your soul as you realize that that is God’s desire for us as well. He longs to have fellowship with us, longs to hear us call on Him that He might show us His goodness. His desire is to have fellowship with man and show us the depths of His loving kindness and tender mercies. His word says to call on Him in the day of trouble and He will hear us (Psalms 50:15); acquaint now ourselves with Him and be at peace, thereby good shall come to us (Job 22:21); and ultimately, I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies (Psalms 18:3). If your enemies outnumber you and you have not the strength to continue in battle, call upon the Lord in prayer and praise,  in faith and trust allow Him to save you, my friends.

If our relationship with God seems strained at the least, and distant at best, it is most often we who have moved from the position of closeness with God. When we are overcome with the cares of this world, when we become weary of our own efforts, disgusted with the failures, and troubled with fear, it is easy to forget how much God really loves us. Once our focus becomes clouded with much worldly concern and busyness we often lose sight of the things in life that really matter. His word says where sin abounds, grace does much more abound (Romans 5:20). When we are weak in the midst of human frailties and errors in judgement, if we are trusting Him His word says then are we strong because it is His grace that carries us through and the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all wrong, all wrong feelings, wrong emotions, wrong actions, wrong anything. Every excuse we can make to distance ourselves from God is covered by His grace. And when we awake one day and feel a distance for no apparent reason, still He has not left us or forsaken us in any way. If you feel you have been in a vise grip for an extended period of time, God is probably up to something in your life. He is perhaps preparing you for greater things in life, richer blessings, and above all, a closer walk with Him if you will trust Him.

But it takes a disciplined heart and mind to think on things above and not on things beneath, to think on the things of God and not on the things of this world. God’s word says to seek first the kingdom of God and all these things, these things we have need of in our activities of daily living, will be added to us.

Jesus told His disciples in John 15:15 – Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends: for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. What love is this to be called friends of God? And He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).  He is a friend that laid down His life for us. He is a friend that will save us from our enemies. So be encouraged my friends. Let these words of inspiration be a reminder to us that if we acquaint ourselves with God we can be at peace. Once peace with God is established in our hearts, then knowing we are the righteousness of God through faith in Christ Jesus will follow. And thus we can most assuredly feel close to God knowing that by His mercy He saved us, not by works of righteousness on our part, but simply by faith – we need only believe my friends. Closeness is only a prayer away!

In His Love,

Lynda Signature

Words Of Inspiration | One Life To Live

Soul Glow

Psalm 40:5 – Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Dearest Friends – We all have but one life to live, how will we live it? The choice is ours each day. We can get up with anticipation of a glorious day or have a defeated attitude before our feet even touch the floor. We can speak with positive words, encouraging words, and share the love of God, or we can flood our atmosphere with negative energy simply by choosing to speak discouraging words born of negative thoughts. It is my prayer that these words of inspiration will motivate you this day to determine to have a glorious life and be all you can be through faith in Jesus. May these inspiration words be a light shining on every reader, perhaps my own soul glow, showing that God is love and life can truly be beautiful but it does not happen without right choices, ordering our conversation aright, and above all right thinking.

Scripture says in Psalms 118:24 – This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Beloved, if it is a day the Lord made, it must be good, how can we not but rejoice? Yes, another day to see the sunshine again, another day to help our brother or save a lost soul, is a day to rejoice and be glad. Even in sorrow and turmoil, with God’s help, we will be able to see the bright side and rejoice. Be joyful for the opportunity to seek the Lord, to serve Him and to share His love today. We are not promised tomorrow, dear ones, life is to be lived to the fullest today. What you leave behind is not what is engraved on a stone monument, but what is woven into the lives of others. Have a positive affect on someone’s life today (Timothy Davis).

A recent Facebook post by Timothy Davis also stated “You’ve got a lot of choices in life to pick from. If getting out of bed in the morning with a frown on your face is one of them, pick again!! No worries!!” Yes, a beautiful day or a beautiful life is not found in the abundance of material goods we acquire, the success we achieve, or worldly fame. A beautiful day and a positive outlook are blossoms of the budding good attitude we chose this morning on arising. The blessings in life that carry us through are the blessings we find in serving others. There is just something about giving of ourselves to help others, putting others’ needs before our own, that creates in us a feeling of satisfaction, an overwhelming feeling of peace and serenity.  The quality of each precious day we are given depends largely on how we allow our light to shine before men. The light we allow to shine before men is the essence of who we are, it is a soul glow if you will. This light can show not only the  path you are on but can beckon the way to others that have perhaps gotten disoriented in their darkness or distress. Thus, your light is a priceless treasure, my friends, when used to edify others.

Scripture says in Psalms 107:8 & 9 – Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. If you get up in the morning counting your blessings you will be amazed at the difference it makes. If you arise with a song of praise on your lips, a prayer in your heart, a thankful attitude coupled with a grateful spirit, you will bless all you meet. Your life will be as a beacon shining on a hilltop, a lighthouse in troubled seas. People around you will see the glow of the Spirit on your face, the love of Jesus will permeate every aspect of your life, and they will want this for their own lives. The joy of the Lord will be your strength and each day will be seen as another opportunity to walk in faith and victory, to do all as unto the Lord.

In His Love,

Words Of Inspiration | Weathering The Storm

He Maketh The Storm A Calm

Isaiah 25:4 – For thou has been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Dear Friends – The storms of life take many forms as most of us are well aware. There are the storms from Mother Nature, earthquakes, floods, mudslides, and yes, tornadoes as pictured above. There are storms raging in the economy and many are without jobs. There are storms in our personal lives, perhaps sickness, disease, emotional turmoil, relational collapse and family dysfunction. Yet in all these things there is but One God. And this our God is still on His throne, still in control of the world He created. We may live in a fallen world but we do not serve a fallen God.

When the psalmist David in the Bible was in much distress and turmoil he prayed a powerful prayer to the God of his salvation. He poured out his heart and every emotion to the God he knew was well able to comfort him and save him. In this prayer in  Psalms 55 he says if he had wings like a dove he would fly away and be at rest, he would wander far into the wilderness, and ultimately he would hasten his escape from the windy storm and tempest. That is an excellent description of how most of us feel in the storms of life. We just want to fly away somewhere, anywhere to get away from the perhaps overwhelming problems and distresses we are facing. Like David, we want to wander off somewhere, perhaps where no one can even find us, just hurry up and get past the pain somehow. Yes, these are human responses to “pit-dwelling” but let us not remain in the pit. Let us call on our God to save us and deliver us for we too know God is well able.

Beloved, God wants His people to dwell in peaceable habitations, in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places (Isaiah 32:18). We do go through times of upheaval, times of trials and tribulations, times of turmoil and unrest, but God is our rock and our fortress. He alone will see us safely through. He can make a way where there is no way. He did not say we would never face times of suffering and heartache, but He did say He would never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Whatever storm you may be in today, know that God is right there with you. Call upon Him in your time of distress for He will not leave you comfortless.

Scripture says in Psalms 142:3a – When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. If you are weathering a storm at this moment then take heart,  for God knows what you are going through and He knows that path you should take.  Let these words of inspiration encourage you to call on Him with confidence and wait patiently for Him to show you the path of escape.

The grace of our Lord be with you all.

Words Of Inspiration | Praise And Worship

The Heavens Shall Praise Thy Wonders

Habakkuk 3:3b – His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

Dearest Friends – Today I write these words of inspiration and words of encouragement to remind us all of the importance of praise and worship. Praise is the highest form of worship to God.  His word says to enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts, and to enter His courts with praise, be thankful unto him, and bless his name (Psalms 100:4). When you rise up in the morning, when you enter your time of prayer during the day, when you pray before sleeping, take time to praise Him. Take time to thank Him for life and the beauty of it all. Lift your hands toward heaven and allow yourself to sense His presence and nearness to you as you pour out your heart to Him. And in the moment of this closeness give Him praise, honor and glory for that great grace by which He has saved us through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

His word says if we draw nigh to God, He will draw nigh to us (James 4:8). You have but to reach out and touch Him and believe He’s heard your every prayer, and has received your praises as a sweet smelling sacrifice. And how can we not but praise the Lord who is so gracious, full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy (Psalms 145:8)?

Beloved, I do not write these words of inspiration and words of encouragement lightly. I’ve been in the furnace of affliction for an extended period. I  have been in the refiner’s fire. I have had painful circumstances  that were so intense I despaired of even life. But I persevered in seeking God. I sought His face daily and kept the lines of communication open, though I must confess at times I felt I was only talking to myself. I praised Him in the darkest moments of life. I believed His word and knew that He who had begun a good work in me would be able to complete it to the end. And I learned the real meaning of praise. I ultimately learned that the Fourth Man was right there in the furnace with me. I’ve come to know God in ways I never thought were possible. When you reach a point in life where God is absolutely all you have it is a life-changing experience. It is a most painful process but the most richly rewarding experience there is in life.

For to strive to know God as we are known changes everything. You will soon realize as you delve into the really deep things of God that you cannot put Him in a box. His plans for our lives are far above all we could think or ask. And all He requires of us is to believe on the name of Jesus, God’s son, and trust Him, commit our way, commit our dreams and desires to Him, and trust Him.

So it is my most sincere prayer for each of you today that you will accept these words of inspiration and words of encouragement as such, and know that our God is truly an awesome God. He will comfort you if you are in distress. He will provide for your every need. He will give you a love that is unconditional and everlasting. Just fall into His arms today and be at rest in your soul.

In His Love And God Bless Each Of You!
