Intercessory Prayer | Divine Intervention

The Contrite Heart

The Contrite Heart

James 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

*A Friend On The Seas

I said a prayer for you today as I sensed your despair.

I asked the Lord to hold you close with tender, loving care.

I felt your loneliness and pain and once again I prayed

that God would reach the heart of you in His most kindest way.

I asked Him to meet every need and every care release,

that you might find the strength to stand and feel His perfect peace.

And for your soul, that lonely seemed, I asked Him to befriend,

that solitude might melt away as cometh from a friend.

I prayed He’d dry your tears and ease the sorrow in your heart,

heal your every brokenness with mercy He imparts.

I felt you could not find your way amidst your storm-tossed sea,

so I asked Jesus’ Light to shine from every part of me.

I prayed His words would touch my lips that I might let you know

how much He loves you and longs for you to be completely whole.

I prayed He’d let you feel His warmth through these hands of my own,

that you might know He’s always there and never be alone.

And as you see His faithfulness and learn of His meekness and love,

may your heart be truly changed indeed and filled with His goodness above.

May every step you take from this day forth bring you closer to Him,

as angels rejoice in heaven today for you, my brother, my friend.

Dear Friends,

It is truly a gift from God to be able to recognize the needs of others, their pain in life, their fears and frustrations, perhaps loneliness and sorrow. To be able to sense in others the things that trouble them, the quiet reaching out of their heart to someone who is willing and able to pray with them, council them, just love them, is straight from the throne of God.

But we can all intercede for someone at any time, and well we should. We can all pray for others, yes, and rightly so. But that unique talent to know what they need, to know how to pray, how to sincerely reach the deepest part of them is a rare and priceless treasure. Most of us are willing. Most of us stand ready to pray and intercede. I pray God would pour out this priceless treasure on you, my friends, for never has there been a time when prayer was needed so much in all facets of our lives.

Scripture says, “It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24. So my prayer today is that God would enlighten our understanding. I pray that God would begin to show us the needs of those around us and help us  to pray the effectual, fervent prayer as mentioned above. I pray for you as well that God would enrich your life with the absolute joy of knowing Him and having fellowship with Him. May God richly bless your life in most  unexpected ways this day so that you in turn would be a blessing to others.  And above all, may you be keenly aware of the absolute importance of praying for others and standing with them in their time of need. God hears your every prayer and prayer always changes things for the better.

*This poem is reposted on the blog today to honor the memory of my brother, Dan, who passed away Apr. 12, 2004. The poem was originally written for him and today would have been his 45th birthday.

In His Love,
